Using Wreaths and Swags Inside your Home - Yes!

Everyone likes to hang wreaths and swags on their front door. But wreaths and swags can be used very effectively inside the home also, and this page will give you some ideas on how to do that.

Wreaths and swags look good on an exterior door, because the door frame acts just like a picture frame bordering and setting off the arrangement. Inside your home, aside from again using a door which is very acceptable, there are all sorts of existing border lines that also frame an arrangement, making naturally good places just crying out for a wreath or swag.

What do you prefer - the empty wall space or that adorned by an arrangement?

This is sort of a divider wall between a front entrance to the right and a dining room to the left.

The edges of the walls make a demarcation line that frames this swag beautifully.

The colors in the swag repeat the colors in the border below it.

Here is a wall space beside overhead cabinets. The intersection of cabinet and wall, the ceiling, and the corner edge at the right make a perfect place for an arrangement - this one repeating colors in the hand painted border.

Above a stairwell like this is a good place to put either a wreath or swag. This one photographed darker than it really is, but doesn't it compliment the wall space well?

This shape is good above doors too.

Some people really like over-the-door swags. The sides of the door are seen by your subconscious as demarcation lines extending up the wall to the ceiling, making a good place for an arrangement.

Although not totally visible, the piano at the bottom of this photo defines invisible lines that extend up the wall to the ceiling making a large square of space that needs to be adorned. I have used mirrors and pictures, but floral arrangements best catch the eye with their texture and decor cordinated colors.
