Country Wreaths :

Country style wreaths include decor that says "country". This one has a small galvanized watercan loaded with cinnamon sticks surrounded by a red and black checked ribbon. Others might contain miniature birdhouses, or birds, or frogs, or squirrels or something "country." The rest is up to you. The material can be anything. The base can be straw, vine or twig. The total effect can be wonderful.

Wreath - No Focal Point :

Some people like the pure form of the circle. They want nothing that stops the eye from feasting on the color, line and texture of the design. These people want no focal point. No bow or decor that disturbs the whole effect of the never ending flow. If you like this wreath perhaps you are one of these people. I like both types of wreaths. When I'm making unmatched originals (not made-to-order) I will prefer no focal point for a while, then switch to wanting a focal point. What is your choice at this point in time?

Wreath with Focal Point :

The wreath at the top of the page has my type of "bow." I like my ribbon to be coming out of the plant material not sitting on top of it. It takes more time but it's worth the effort. The wreath in this picture has a trailing ribbon focal point. The effect can be varied in many ways. But the eye does stop and rest on the focal point. You can compare this wreath with the wreaths above to determine which you like most. I also make a more bunched bow, which is more like the standard commercial sort (but it still is embedded in the design not sitting on top). Focal points don't have to be ribbon and bows. They can be made from anything - from bulbs, to shells, to tiny wood shapes, to a focal point made solely from a concentration of plant material. Focal points can be fascinating.
